Three Cups of Tea: Knowledge is Power
The Alumni Association joined with PTK to launch this new college service project in 2006. Making a difference in the lives of Central Asian children through education is our vision as we strive to raise the funds necessary to build a school there in the name of Brookdale. This is strictly a humanitarian effort - people helping people.
As of Spring 2008, we have completed our goal and have raised the $35,000 needed to build a school in Afganistan. The early success of this effort prompted Greg Mortenson, Executive Director of the Central Asia Institute (CAI) and author of Three Cups of Tea to authorize the building of the Brookdale School.

Barringer Awards Dinner
The Barringer Award was created in 1986 in honor of Dr. B.A. Barringer, then President of Brookdale Community College. His commitment to educational excellence and his vigorous and enthusiastic support for the Alumni Association’s reorganization led to his becoming the award’s first recipient.
The award is presented annually to individual(s) who demonstrates unwavering commitment to educational excellence and Brookdale. The annual Barringer Awards Dinner is held in the spring. This year the dinner will be held at Branches on Friday, March 27, 2009 from 6 pm to 10 pm.
